Description
A registered representative, also known as a public officer for companies, is a designated person who SARS can consider your appointed primary contact. SARS requires entities to have a registered representative for the sake of performing certain functions via e-filing, for example filing a VAT return, income tax return or transferring a tax type. A company is required by the Income Tax Act to appoint a public officer within one month after the company begins to carry out business or acquire an office in South Africa.
